Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946, into a low-income family, with twelve kids eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from the hardships of her life by using a creative mind. Songs were written by her before she could read and write. After getting her first guitar at the age of eight, she started performing on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. In the same year, she recorded her first recording on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While still in highschool, she made her name local, but longed for a larger stage. After graduating the high school in 1964, she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her first two charting albums for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time was searching for a singer for his program. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. She quit Wagoner's act in 1974 when her solo singles like Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene oversold her collaborations. Parton recorded "I Will Always Love You" to Wagoner shortly after they separated. The track reached No. 1 for the first time since 1974.
